Melissa is a highly experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse with over a decade of service in the hospital industry. Known for exceptional assessment skills and a  dedication to patient care, they have contributed significantly across various clinical settings, including Level 1 Trauma Centers, specialized cardiac units, and COVID-19 care.

Starting her career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at UT Health East Texas, Melissa quickly demonstrated her ability to provide specialized care and respond swiftly to changes in patients’ conditions. After five years in this role, she transitioned to a Registered Nurse position within the same institution, where she collaborated closely with other healthcare professionals to manage patient treatments, administer intravenous infusions, and perform emergency procedures.

Melissa has demonstrated versatility in numerous roles, such as providing critical care during the COVID-19 pandemic at Texas Health Presbyterian, managing cardiac patients at Medical City Plano and Cape Fear Valley Hospital, and delivering high-quality care at OU Health University of Oklahoma Medical Center and Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s. Their ability to adapt to various units, including Medsurg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care, highlights their broad clinical expertise.

Her commitment to continuous learning and professional development is evident through her extensive licensure and certification portfolio, which includes Registered Nurse licenses from the Texas and Minnesota State Boards of Nursing, and certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).

Melissa is also proficient in using medical software systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Meditech, which enhances their ability to document patient care accurately and efficiently. Their broad clinical skill set includes managing IV drips, vents, trachs, optiflo, NG tubes, PEGs, PCA pumps, feeding pumps, epidurals, wound vacs, foley catheters, Picc lines, midlines, mediports, bipaps, reading telemetry monitors, starting IVs, blood administration, insulin drips, and utilizing Pyxis and Omnicell systems

Melissa earned an Associate Degree in Nursing and a Licensed Vocational Nursing certificate from Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX. Their solid educational background and hands-on experience showcases her competence and dedication to exceptional patient care.
